How To Write An Effective Process Description Essay In 5 Steps
Some people argue that the easiest type of essay to write is a process description one. I'm not sure that's exactly true but I can see where they are coming from. If you know the process of doing something and you can make a priority list of the steps you need to take, then all you need to do is to describe each of the steps. Of course that doesn't account for clear and simple writing, a proper structure such as an introduction, body paragraphs and the conclusion and the ability to polish the final product. But in a nutshell that’s what we’re talking about.
So here are five steps to make sure your process description essay is as good as it possibly can be.
- The choice of process is all-important.
- Create a plan of your essay.
- Write the first draft as quickly as possible.
- Proofread, edit and revise your essay.
- Seek feedback.
Just as is the case with every type of essay, unless you choose the right topic for you the task becomes a lot harder. If you have a choice in selecting the process then choose something which you know well or enjoying talking about or have a passion for. If you do that it will show in your writing.
Before you start any of the essay writing itself you must create a plan. There will be a series of steps that you take in the process you are describing. What are those steps? Are they in the right order? Is one step crucial or more important than another?
Now it's time to write the first draft of your process description essay. With your plan by your side you write that first draft as quickly as you can. The important thing here is to get the words down on paper or into your digital device. Allow your thoughts to flow freely and write quickly disregarding spelling and syntax and perhaps repetition.
Now you need to get to the nuts and bolts of the task which involves proofreading and editing and revising when necessary. Even the best essay writers can improve on their first draft. Some writers do multiple draft revisions.
And finally, before you hand in your process description essay, seek some feedback. Show it to friends or family or fellow students and listen to what they say. If necessary carry out even more editing or revision.
