How it all began...
Gloryland pre and primary school was established in January 2010 by teacher Asnath Agael Laizer. Asnath loves working with children and wanted to help the children in her local community. Her goal is to provide them with quality education to prevent the children from ending up on the streets. Education is the best weapon to battle against poverty, therefore it is extremely important that all children, regardless of their circumstances, are given the best chance at obtaining one.
Although fees at Gloryland are very low, children who cannot afford to pay those fees are not disadvantaged and are still able to attend school. The children come from a variety of backgrounds, but everyone is treated the same and given the same opportunities.

Current situation...
At the moment 49 children are attending Gloryland and are divided up into 5 classes; baby class, nursery class, pre-1 class, class 1 and class 2. Each class has its own curriculum designed to suit children of these ages and abilities. Each child's progress is monitored closely and those who need extra help are offered it. Although resources are limited, the teacher and volunteers ensure each child has enough equipment to learn effectively, this includes pencils, rubbers and workbooks for each subject. Recently volunteers built a new fence to separate the school from the busy road in front and gave the school a new coat paint!
Work has begun on the construction of a separate primary school for class 1 and 2 of Gloryland, updates will follow shortly!!

Future plans...
Although construction has begun on the new building, finances only stretch far enough to build two classrooms and two toilets. In the future we hope to raise enough money to complete the school building with ten classrooms, an office, more toilets and playground equipment for the children!
